College Football Countdown: Biggest Games For Teams Nos. 15-11

Our third installment of “College Football Countdown” will move us a few steps closer to cracking the Top-10. We broke down 25-21 here, and 20-16 here.

We’ve got some pretty big names on the list this time, including recent title contenders and even champions.

So, let’s get going…..

No. 15 Texas

Much like Oklahoma, the “Red River Rivalry” is as important as any game in America to these two programs and their fan bases.

For the Longhorns, this game seems to either see them rise to the occasion or fall from the graces.

October 12 is the date, and by October 13, we will have one less title-contender.

No. 14 Oklahoma State

The Cowboys and Sooners also play an important contest at the end of the year, but Oklahoma State has a chance early in the season to make a statement.

Mike Gundy and his Black and Orange attack play SEC foe Mississippi State.

And, while the Bulldogs are not Alabama, they pack a bunch. This should be an exciting offensive contest, and could go a long way in pushing OSU to the Top-10.

No. 13 LSU

Alabama.

It’s as simple as that for Les Miles and the Bayou Bengals.

Beat the Tide and you are likely headed for a spot in the SEC championship and a likely berth in the national title.

November 9 is a long ways away, but there just are not many hiccups standing in front of LSU before that date.

No. 12 Florida State

Over the last few years, the Clemson-Florida State game has played as a de facto eliminator game in the ACC standings.

This year, the ‘Noles have to head to Death Valley and visit a Top-10 team led by Tajh Boyd.

Can new QB Jameis Winston pull the upset? Will we see another high-scoring offensive thriller?

Florida State has five games, including three at home, to prepare for October 19 and Clemson.

No. 11 Notre Dame

Playing without a conference, the Irish have several key games on the docket once again.

Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and BYU are all back on the list, but the season-ending game vs. Stanford is the key.

Say things come together for Brian Kelly and staff once again and the Irish are sitting at 10-1 heading out West in late November to meet the Cardinal.

Well, they will be playing for another BCS game that is for sure, and depending on how other teams battle through the grind, it could be for a spot in the “big game” once more.
